Information
This education package will open children's eyes
to the problems of blindness and vision impairment.
The interactive CD ROM pack not only provides middle-primary school
children with the opportunity to learn about vision impairment, but
also provides teachers with a learning tool which meets the needs of
the Education Department's curriculum.
The package is the first of its kind to be developed by a South Australian
blindness agency.
The new interactive CD ROM uses three animated vision impaired mice
(called the 3VI) to teach students about vision loss and to encourage
respect for those with restricted sight. The 3VI are a much newer version
of the three blind mice.
Designed for Year 4 students, the CD ROM program includes segments on
sight, the eye, aids for blind and vision impaired people and how to
make environments safer for those with limited sight.
Students can complete the CD ROM at their own pace and the curriculum-based
program is both fun and informative.
A teacher's resource kit is also available on the CD-ROM or can be found
on this website.
