Community Services

The RSB’s Community Services team is able to provide counselling to assist individuals and their families to adapt to vision loss.

Children can be assisted to develop skills for independent living such as using the phone, preparing a snack, dressing, eating and so on. They can offer advice on how the family home can be adapted, what lighting would be most suitable and how everyday tasks can be made simple.

The Community Services team can also help encourage children to become involved in recreation and leisure activities, all of which promote peer interaction, sensory stimulation and confidence, as well as linking them to relevant organisations.
